Here's what I'll tell you: Claude Code is the first AI tool that made me rethink how I work. Not because of the hype. Because I watched it do in 20 minutes what used to take me a day.

Let me show you what's actually happening.

What Is Claude Code, Actually?

Claude Code is an AI assistant that does the work-not just talks about it.

Here's the difference:

ChatGPT is the consultant who writes recommendations. Claude Code is the contractor who shows up and actually builds the house.

The Secret Sauce: Opus 4.5

Here's what most explanations miss: Claude Code isn't just a clever interface. It's powered by Opus 4.5-Anthropic's most intelligent model.

The Cost

Claude Code requires a Claude subscription. Here's how people actually use it:

Most people who stick with Claude Code upgrade to Max. The $20 Pro tier works for getting started, but you'll hit usage limits fast-especially if you're using Opus 4.5, the model that makes Claude Code actually powerful. The Max tiers give you enough Opus capacity to use it as your daily driver.

Is $100-200/month expensive? Compared to what? If Claude Code saves you 10 hours a month, that's $10-20/hour for work that would otherwise require a developer or just not get done.

The Judgment Gap

Claude Code is exceptional at tasks with clear completion criteria. "Build a login page" = perfect. "Make the design feel more premium" = struggles.

It's a tool, not a creative director. Human judgment still matters.

Should You Care?

Hell yes.

Here's the uncomfortable truth:
