Everything is markdown. Nothing to install beyond Claude itself.
You installed Cowork. Now what?
Most people open it, type something, get a mediocre answer, and close it.
Cowork isn't a chatbot. It works when you give it three things: a folder to work in, instructions about your business, and a job to do.
This kit is those three things, done for you.
What's in the kit
Everything you need to get started.
Your global instructions file
Claude reads this at the start of every session. It tells Claude who you are, how you write, what to never do, and how to hand work back to you.
Paste it once into Cowork's Global Instructions box. You'll never explain yourself again.
## How to work with me **Read before you act.** At the start of any task, read the files in `About-Me/` — about-me.md, brand-voice.md, working-style.md. Everything you produce should match them. **Plan first on anything non-trivial.** Show me the plan and wait. I'd rather approve an approach than undo a result. ## Never - Never delete anything. Move it to `_trash/` and tell me. - Never send an email, post or invite. Draft it. I'll send it. - Never invent a number, quote, date or source.
A ready-made folder tree
Cowork needs somewhere to work. This is that place, already built — with the context files written, not left as blank templates.
Unzip it to your desktop, point Cowork at it, done.
75 prompts, sorted by job
Not prompt theory. Seventy-five prompts that each do a single job, grouped by the job.
Every one is copy-and-paste. Three of them are shown here in full.
Go through my unread email from the last 48 hours. Sort it into three lists: archive, needs me, and waiting on them. For anything in "needs me", draft a one-sentence reply I can send as-is. Don’t send or archive anything yourself.
→ Three lists and a set of drafted replies. Two minutes of clicking.
Read this PDF. Give me one page: what it is, the five things that actually matter, anything that affects a decision or costs money, and what I can safely skip. Quote directly for anything I might need to cite, with the page number.
→ A page you can act on, with page numbers so you can check it.
Clean this file: standardise date and currency formats, fix inconsistent spellings in the name columns, flag rows with missing required fields, remove exact duplicates. Save as a new file. List every change.
→ A clean file, the original untouched, and a record of what moved.

Three skills, ready to run
A skill teaches Cowork how you do a job — once, forever. These three are the foundation.
One teaches Claude your business. One learns how you write. One clears your inbox and drafts the replies.
Interviews you about your business, then writes the file Cowork reads before every task.
Ask me questions one at a time. Never fill a gap with a plausible guess.
You say: "Run Business Context."
Reads things you have already written and works out how you write, so nothing comes back sounding like AI.
Measure, don’t intuit. Average sentence length. Words I never use.
You say: "Run Voice Profile."
Clears the inbox down to three things that matter and drafts the replies.
You are my inbox bouncer. Your bias is archive.
You say: "Run Inbox Triage."
Six office recipes
The six things people actually ask Cowork for.
Each one is a single page: what to open, what to paste, what you get back, and what to do when it's wrong the first time.
A 12-page strategy doc
A 15-minute slide outline, headlines written as claims
A CRM export nobody loves
Clean file, original untouched, every change listed
A 40-page PDF
One page, with page numbers for the bits you’ll cite
Files and numbers
A Word report in last quarter’s shape, guesses flagged
400 unread in Outlook
Three lists and a set of drafted replies
Messy meeting notes
Decisions, owners, dates — and the follow-up email
The install walkthrough
Five steps for each operating system, written for someone who hasn't found the download yet.
Including what to do when it sticks on “setting up your workspace” and nothing happens.
- 01Download Claude Desktop from claude.ai/download
- 02Sign in with the account your Pro plan is on
- 03Click the Cowork tab at the top
- 04Choose Opus 5 and turn on Extended Thinking
- 05Grant access to the Workspace folder — top level only
Plus the fixes: Cowork tab missing, stuck on “setting up your workspace”, can't see your files, asking for developer mode.
“Which Claude do I use?”
Claude, Cowork, Code. Ask, do, build.
One page, one table. Print it and stop wondering.
| Claude | The chat window at claude.ai | You want to ask something |
| Claude Cowork | A tab in the Claude Desktop app | You want it to do something to your files |
| Claude Code | A tool that runs in a terminal | You want it to build software |
Once it's set up
What your week looks like.
Monday
Inbox sorted, replies drafted, three things left that matter.
Wednesday
A deck built from last quarter’s report, headlines already written.
Friday
The weekly report written before you opened your laptop.
For you if
- You run something, or you run a department
- You’re on Windows or Mac
- You don’t write code and don’t want to
- You’ve got Cowork open and don’t know what to do with it
Not for you if
You're a developer looking for Claude Code. Different tool, different kit — that one's the AI Agent Quickstart, and it comes with 15 agents instead of three skills.
